Full-Time ESL Instructors
INTERLINK Language Centers
Program Description: The INTERLINK Language Center intensive English program is seeking full-time ESL instructors for the centers at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Indiana State University to begin in March 2014. The program provides international students with language training, cultural orientation, and academic preparation as well as help with university placement and conditional admission. Features include small class sizes (average 9-10 students), a project-based curriculum, experiential-learning activities, and access to university facilities and courses. Responsibilities: Full-time instructors are expected to teach in all skill areas (23 contact hours per week); be actively involved in new-student placement and orientation; keep office hours for meetings with students; participate in weekly staff meetings and occasional student activities; arrange experiential-learning activities for students; contribute to discussions related to program accreditation and the curriculum; and, present periodically at TESOL conferences and/or other professional meetings.
Requirements and Qualifications: A genuine commitment to students, teaching, and the profession; a master’s degree in TESOL or applied linguistics; two or more years of relevant teaching experience; strong interest in cross-cultural training; and, familiarity with student-focused approaches to language acquisition. Applicants should also hold U.S. citizenship or residency and have excellent verbal and wrtitten skills in English. Overseas teaching experience, service in the Peace Corps, and/or fluency in a second language are highly desired.
Salary and Benefits: Medical insurance plan (no dental); moving allowance; financial support when presenting at local, regional, and national TESOL conferences; supportive, stimulating colleagues; and, access to university facilities. Salary is commensurate with experience ranging between $30,000-36,000 per annum.
